The symbolization of the things going on in the story are enlightening. when talking about Faith, which is his wife. but at the same time it identifies his faith as a man. when things started getting out of hand Goodman Brown starts realizing a lot is not what it seems. His name is young Goodman Brown which really identifies as "young good men". Young Goodman Brown story represents one journey through life in which each individual gradually loses his or her dignity and innocence as a result of exposure to greed, lust, envy, perversion, and the other sins of humanity.  The journey into the forest represents sin which Goodman traveled there to find clarity but traveling there ends up becoming his downfall.
